The first few steps in becoming a proficient Spreadsheets user!

Throughout the course of the past few weeks I have developed and expanded my understanding and knowledge of spreadsheets. I have accomplished the goals I set myself since I started implementing the project until this point. I have grown as a learner in becoming a resilient, persistent and adaptable achiever and an innovative problem solver via spreadsheets.

I have strengthened in many areas of my research such as identifying adequate websites and information to base my learning of spreadsheets on, I have strengthened in gaining greater knowledge such as understanding different formulas and functions of spreadsheets as seen in the following digital artifacts.

The reason for these strengths is that I have been exposed to many different resources such as a website known as Spreadsheeto and through the guidance of my instructor, Mr. Shappell.

Even though I have strengthened in many different areas and have grown in becoming a sturdy learner. I have also experienced some weaknesses over the past few weeks whilst learning spreadsheets. One of the weaknesses I have experienced was that when learning how to develop  a spreadsheet I realized the capability and power of a spreadsheet and my lack of understanding was therefore my weakness. The main reason for this weakness is that I am new at spreadsheets and therefore I do not have the ability to create a spreadsheet and formulas that would work for my ideas.

As a result of the above I was often confused, but through many vigorous discussions and laborious  research I was able to better understand the areas in which I was uncertain of. Some of these areas in which I was uncertain of have become some of my strengths such as not quite understanding different ways of interpreting data and putting the data into different formats of a spreadsheet such as averages, graphs, tables, problem solving, and financial calculations. The reason for these confusions is that at first the resources I was using did not provide an depth idea about interpreting data but after using the correct resources I was able to better understand this area of spreadsheets.

There has also been risk taking as well as self-awareness in the past few weeks. I have had many successes such as being able to sufficiently develop the right skills to start using spreadsheets. Another one of my successes was being able to gather the correct raw data and organize it into different categories according to the different areas of my cricket game that I will be analyzing. This is clearly seen in the digital artifact below.

Fortunately over the past few weeks I have not encountered many failures but I know that with all successful and functional projects there has to be failure and I feel that I am prepared to overcome any further obstacle and I will be open to any change that is required in order to prosper.

I know that there is room for self-improvement and there is always a way to gain a better grasp of spreadsheeting. There are many ways in which I can improve, such as becoming more efficient with formulas and functions. I can also improve in learning different shortcuts and easier ways of using spreadsheets and in learning exactly how functions and formulas work which will in turn help me memorize what do when adapting different functions and formulas. All of which will assist in me becoming a proficient spreadsheet user. I have finally come to realize that the main purpose of spreadsheets, once created, can become a plug and play for all my future raw data, and the necessity to analyze data will be far less cumbersome.
