The Finale!

Throughout the course of this semester I have grown as a student in numerous ways such as becoming a Resilient, Persistent, and Adaptable Achiever, a Critical and Creative Thinker and an innovative problem solver. This semester has brought about numerous strengths, weaknesses, confusions as well as many successes and failures, all of which have contributed in my maturation and development as a learner.

I have encountered many strengths over the semester and I strongly believe my biggest strength over the whole semester was the vital assist being able to create a spreadsheet from my random cricket statistics into meaningful, useable and accurate summarised data which allowed me to be develop and improve different areas of my cricketing skills. For example, from the data I was able to recognise that my wicket keeping skills needed to be honed in on as I did not not take as many stumping as usually would and therefore needed to work on my agility and quick reflexes. The reason for this strength was that I had easy access to people with adequate knowledge about Spreadsheets such as Mr. Shappell. My final product and biggest strength can be seen below:

I came across many adversities with both my projects that I took on which were Spreadsheets and Photoshop. My biggest adversity over the semester was my inability to gain fluency with regards to Photoshop meaning that I lacked the understanding of the finer details and intricacies of Photoshop. A concrete example of this was not understanding what the Quick Selection Tool or Forward Warp Tool does as well as not knowing what brushes to use for the particles. I am still in the process of gaining fluency and firm grip when it comes to Photoshop. The reason for this adversity is that I am a beginner with Photoshop and I lack the experience needed which will develop over time.

My biggest confusion/ inquiry definitely came up during my time learning Spreadsheets, when initially learning how to formulate a Spreadsheet, I thought using multiple spreadsheets would have been the most convenient however my confusion arose when trying to link the spreadsheets and as a result I was forced to include all of my data onto a single spreadsheet which could appear to be somewhat cumbersome. A specific example of this was initially wanting to link both my batting and wicket keeping statistics from two separate spreadsheets. The reason for this confusion was due to the complexity of spreadsheets and the complexity of performing such task.

I have encountered many successes over the whole semester, my biggest success was my overall ability to work efficiently and effectively throughout my projects. As I have mentioned before, setting deadlines and sticking to them is a vital skill and component of school, college and the business world. A concrete example would be setting a deadline on interpreting and analysing all of my data for my Spreadsheet by the third blog which I was able to do. Another deadline is getting roughly half of my Photoshop project done by the beginning of February which I am working towards.

This invigorating semester has brought about a lot of fun, excitement and growth. Although I have grown, I know I can always better myself and improve the skills I have developed. One way of improving would be to further expand my knowledge of Spreadsheets such as learning more complex functions and formulas in order to better analyse my data, for example, learning these more complicated formulas will allow me to better assess my batting skills such as the different ways I went out according to the different shots I played. Another way in which I could improve would be to  watch and research videos and articles as to what the functions of different tools are and how to properly and effectively use them. For example, understating the functions of specific brushes in order to easily and efficiently us them. I am really looking forward to the next Semester and all that it has to offer!
